Thursday is Deadline For Planned Special Session
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - It appears Governor Mark Dayton has established Thursday as the deadline for legislative leaders to sign off on three pieces of legislation that would be acted on during a proposed special session next week.
The governor sent a letter to the top leaders of the State House and Senate on Tuesday urging them to finalize agreements on a tax bill, a bonding package, and a plan to provide rebates to Minnesotans facing huge premium increases for their health insurance coverage purchased on the individual market.
“The months spent negotiating every aspect of those three bills have passed,” said Governor Dayton. “Now, in order to have a Special Session, they must be accepted by the four Caucus Leaders, along with a signed agreement to limit the Session to those three bills with no amendments added.”
The letter also includes a proposed agreement that would set the parameters for a special session. If his deadline can be met, Dayton intends to call state lawmakers back to St. Paul for a one-day session next Tuesday.
