Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester received three proposals for the planned Rec Center/Senior Center project by Tuesday’s deadline.

The city expects to select one or two of the proposals by Friday and then begin what is known as the Best Value Process that will lead to a recommendation. The current schedule calls for a contract to be awarded by the City Council at its April 20th meeting.

The three proposals were submitted by Kraus-Anderson, Boldt Construction and Knutson Construction, which was recently awarded the Mayo Civic Center project. Work is expected to begin in May and be completed by the fall of next year.

Under the plan, the Rec Center will be expanded and renovated. The new senior center will be located on the southwest corner of the Rec Center and the two buildings will be connected. The senior center will include a swimming pool, workout room, a library, cafeteria, computer labs, classrooms and other amenities.
