The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officer assigned to the Rochester area has won a prestigious honor.

There were two cases of "chronic wasting disease" in the November deer hunt in southeastern Minnesota. Nothing has been found since, but as a precaution, the D-N-R has set up a special hunt from 12/31-1/16 in the suspected area. Conservation officer Phil George was on Rochester's Good Morning with Rich and KD last Friday with all the details of how you can be involved.

Zebra mussels are spreading in Minnesota lakes, with five more in Central Minnesota noted as having the invasive species by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources recently.
