Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An apparent suicide attempt was to blame for a huge traffic mess on Highway 52 in Rochester this afternoon. Rochester Police and firefighters were called to the 41st Street Northwest bridge over the highway around 2:30 pm after receiving reports of a woman threatening to jump from the overpass.

Northbound traffic was diverted off the highway at 37th Street, which slowed traffic to a crawl, while firefighters maneuvered a truck with a rescue bucket into place and lowered the woman to safety. Reports indicate she was transported to St. Marys Hospital by ambulance.

The 41st Street Bridge was reopened and traffic was returned to normal on Highway 52 shortly after 3 pm.
