Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester City Council still isn’t ready to pull the trigger on a decision to fund an expansion of the northside police station.

The council discussed the proposal at an earlier meeting and asked for more information. It was presented at the council’s committee meeting Monday but it generated more questions.

One of the issues the council is struggling with is the price tag and its impact on other projects. The estimated costs for a new parking garage and other amenities at the site are $18.1-million if done as a single project and $19.5-million if it’s completed in two phases.

Staff will tackle the new questions and is expected to bring the answers back for more discussion next month.

Before the meeting, Mayor Ardell Brede gathered the council and staff to formally receive a plaque commemorating the Mayo Civic Center expansion project.
