Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A car travelling at  a high rate of speed crossed two downtown Rochester streets and through an entire parking lot before slamming into several parked vehicles Friday night.

The speeding car was eastbound on 5th St SW when it crossed 1st Ave, went through a parking lot, crossed all lanes of Broadway and finally came to a stop after crashing into five cars that were parked at the Eastman Auto Repair Shop, across the street from Rochester Fire Station #1.

Police Sgt. Bert Otto says the driver of the car - 55-year-old Lawrence Rust of Rochester - told officers the accelerator stuck. He was taken to St. Marys Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Otto says it’s believed Rust had been drinking and will likely face charges.
