Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Police Department has scheduled a public meeting dealing with a convicted sex offender who is moving to a northwest residence.

The department says 32-year-old Derek Jeter is planning to move to a residence in the 900 block of 40th St NW March 15th.

Jeter has been classified a Level 3 sex offender, meaning it’s likely he will re-offend.

RPD says “Jeter engaged in sexual contact that included penetration with a known 15-year-old female. He provided alcohol to the victim and took advantage of her intoxicated state. Prior history of sexual conduct and contact with known minor victims, both male and female. The conduct included inappropriate sexual behavior and exposure. Contact included sexual touching and penetration.”

The department is planning to hold the Community Notification Meeting Thursday, March 14 at its North Station, beginning at 6:00 PM.

Representatives from the Department of Corrections and the Rochester Police Department will be available to answer questions.
