Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Rochester could have a new fire chief by the end of June.

City Human Resources Director Linda Hillenbrand says 11 applications for the job were received by the Wednesday deadline.

Hillebrand says they will be screened and she expects the number of applicants will be lowered to 5 - 7. She says the list will eventually be narrowed to 3 finalists and the city’s Fire Civil Service Commission will review the candidates.

The City Council will then appoint a new chief to succeed Greg Martin, who is retiring in June. He began his Rochester job in 2008.
