Rochester MN (KROC AM News) - Several inches of snow fell across southeast Minnesota Monday afternoon and evening with totals generally in the 4 - 8 inch range, not quite as high as had been forecast.

Totals in the Rochester area were in the 5 - 8 inch range with just under 7 inches at the airport, the most in one day since early March. More light snow fell Tuesday morning. There will be a chance for some light snow Wednesday and then cold weather will move in for a few days.

Heavier amounts were reported west of Rochester.

During the brunt of the storm, public safety officials in Rochester were busy with dozens of traffic mishaps and minor accidents. No serious wrecks were reported.

It was the first major winter storm of the season to hit the region.
