MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) — Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh was the surprise guest at the national launch for late author Vince Flynn's thriller "The Survivor."

The event was a fundraiser Tuesday at Flynn's alma mater, St. Thomas Academy in the St. Paul suburb of Mendota Heights. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that it was as much a tribute to Flynn as it was a launch of the 15th installment of the Mitch Rapp counterterrorism series, which Flynn had just started before he died of cancer in 2013.

Limbaugh told the crowd of about 800 people that he "never met anyone more reliable, solid and trustworthy" than Flynn.

Flynn wrote only a few pages of "The Survivor" before he died. Author Kyle Mills was brought in to take over the series.
