Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Our brief reprieve from winter could be ending soon.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the southern quarter of Minnesota and the northern quarter of Iowa that will be in effect Tuesday afternoon through mid-afternoon on Wednesday.

Forecasters are tracking a storm developing off the coast of California that could bring significant snowfall to the Rochester area and other parts of southern Minnesota. At this point, the National Weather Service says the track of the storm is uncertain, but it appears likely that this region will see accumulating snow develop on Tuesday and some areas of southeastern Minnesota could end up with over a half foot of accumulation by Wednesday afternoon.

Temperatures are predicted to remains relatively mild until Thursday night, when the low could dip into the teens and Friday’s high is expected to be much more seasonable in the mid 20’s.
