Rochester Suspect Left Fake Bombs,Threatening Notes- and Money

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The teenager who had Rochester police scrambling early Monday after he said he had placed bombs at schools and churches left something else behind - money.

Arraigned Wednesday on several felony counts was 19-year-old Kyle Miller, who has a Dodge Center address.

Police first had contact with him at St Marys Hospital where he was found pointing a rifle at his head. It was later learned he shot himself in the head with the rifle, which was a pellet gun.

Miller told the officers he had left explosive devices at Century High School and two churches. The packages were located and police say they were not bombs and did not pose a safety threat.

An envelope Miller left at Century contained $267 in cash with a note indicating the money was for a scholarship. He also left $100 in cash in a container he left at one of the churches.

During his arraignment, Miller’s bail was set $75,000.
