Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester School Board has extended Superintendent Michael Munoz’s employment contract by one year.

Tuesday night’s approval keeps him under contract through June 2018.

School Board Chair Gary Smith says it’s expected discussions will begin on a new three year contract before the existing one expires.

Munoz was hired by the Rochester district in 2011 and signed a three year contract. He signed his current three year contract in November 2013. It took effect July 1, 2014.

Earlier this year, Munoz was a finalist for the superintendent position in Lawrence, Kansas.
