Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - If you rely on Rochester Public Transit to get around, you are out of luck until further notice.

RPT has become the latest public entity to be affected by the polar air that has moved into Minnesota.

RPT issued an urgent alert Tuesday night saying its buses “are experiencing mechanical difficulty due to extreme conditions.”

As a result, all service was suspended Tuesday night and on Wednesday, ”transit service will be limited to the direct routes servicing Park & Ride lots only, beginning at 5:30 A.M.   There will no neighborhood service until further notice.

RPT says “ Every attempt will be made to restore bus routes as quickly as possible. However, there is also a chance that buses will continue to encounter difficulties. Additional service suspensions may be necessary. Please visit rochestermn.gov or rptride.com for the latest information."
