The many hidden apps on phones.  USB devices that are really used to vape in class.  If you are a parent like me, you know how overwhelming it can feel at times to try to stay up to date on the latest and help keep our kids safe. The Rochester Public Schools and the Rochester Police Department are hosting a meeting for parents that will help cover these topics and more and everyone is invited - and I highly encourage you to attend.

I remember life during my high school days and what went on in the halls then.  But today, my three kids are the ones that are in the halls.  Being an informed parent and staying up to date on what is going on is one of the best things that I can do for my kids.  It is so easy for kids to interact with a stranger on social media even with parental controls in place.  (Trust me on this one...you can read about what happened with one of my kids here).  I also learned last year from the Rochester Police Department how big of a problem vaping is in our schools right now and how easily this is being disguised in plain sight.

If you are a parent, join the Rochester Public School and the Rochester Police Department for the Family Engagement Night on Tuesday, January 15th at Willow Creek Middle School.

  • Threat response, vaping, and social media use are the topics that will be covered and are all areas that parents should have information on.

  • This will be streamed live if you are unable to attend in person.
  • Dinner is provided from 5:30 pm - 6 pm and Presentation is 6 pm - 7:30 pm
