Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to 15 years probation for spending thousands of dollars from his elderly mother’s bank account on a lake home, a vehicle, and a variety of other purchases.

Olmsted County Judge Deborah Jacobson also ordered 58-year-old Terry Ruesink pay almost $55,000 in restitution. Back in March, Ruesink pleaded guilty to a felony count of Financial Exploitation involving a vulnerable adult through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of three other charges.

The criminal complaint says the victim was diagnosed with dementia in 2009 and Ruesink was granted Power of Attorney to assist with her finances last summer.
