Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A  Rochester man says he was mugged Tuesday night while sitting in his car.

The 23 year old says he was in the parking lot of The Gates of Rochester apartment complex along 41st St NW around 10:30 p.m. when a man approached and asked for a cigarette. The man then opened the driver’s side door, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his wallet.  Another man opened the other door and put the victim in a chokehold. A third man got into the rear seat and began punching the victim. They left after getting the victim’s wallet and cellphone. They were seen leaving in an SUV.

The victim did not seek medical treatment.

Police aren’t sure if this incident is related to a similar mugging that occurred Sunday night in the parking lot on the west side of Quarry Hill Park.
