Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to a felony charge of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

In exchange for the guilty plea, Olmsted County prosecutors dropped three other felony charges against 64-year-old Donald Polikowsky. His 30-year-old son and 38-year-old daughter-in-law were also charged in the case and are currently scheduled to stand trial in June.

The charges against the family members say investigators began looking into suspicious activity involving the finances of Polikowsky’s mother, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2009, and determined that almost $400,000 had been taken from her accounts. The three family members were accused of using the funds for their own benefit, including the purchases of a home, building materials, and vehicles.

Donald Polikowsky is scheduled to be sentenced June 21st, which is less than a week before his son’s trial is scheduled to begin.
