Rochester Lourdes Hires New Athletics Director
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Lourdes High School has hired a new athletics director.
The official title that Steve Strickland will have on his ID badge when he begins his new job March 12 will be Activities Director.
According to the Rochester Catholic school, “Strickland’s primary responsibilities will be overseeing the day-to-day operations, mission alignment, scheduling, staffing and future direction of fine arts and athletic programs. Additionally, he will guide booster programs to encompass and support all athletic and fine arts offerings. He will also facilitate relationships with coaches, directors, students, parents, and benefactors in order to strengthen the identity and cohesion across all activities at all levels.”
The 50-year-old Strickland had this to say about his decision:
“I am excited for the offer to become the new Activities Director for Lourdes High School and to work alongside the talented faculty, fine arts directors and advisors, coaches, parents and volunteers who have helped create a level of excellence throughout the RCS activities programs. I look forward to the opportunity to bring new ideas to the Activities Department while engaging with the RCS community.”
Strickland was most recently Account Manager with Jaguar Communications. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He has coached for the Lourdes High School Track and Field program, RCS elementary school and traveling basketball program.
The position had been held by Mark Rudolph until his departure in November, just six month after succeeding longtime AD Marv Peters.
