Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  - The Rochester area has received some beneficial rain - the most in a 24 hour period in about three weeks.

The rain began falling Sunday night and the total at the airport through noon Monday was around half an inch, which was the same at other sites in the city.

Most of the totals in Olmsted County were in the half inch to one inch range but higher amounts were reported in northern areas. The National Weather Service received two reports of 1.5 inches from the Oronoco area.

The Rochester area had developed a 2 inch moisture deficit for the month of August and if the forecast for the next few days holds, it should be erased.  Forecasters say rain is expected through Wednesday and totals by then could be in excess of 2 inches.
