Rochester Burglar is Headed to Prison
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced for his involvement in a string of residential burglaries in the Rochester area last year.
38-year-old Todd Black was ordered to prison for 27 months and was ordered to pay nearly $30,000 in restitution.
He earlier entered a guilty plea to a third degree burglary charge through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of another felony burglary-related charge.
Black was arrested in August of last year after a search of his home in southeast Rochester turned up numerous items that had been reported missing in residential burglaries in rural northwest Olmsted County. He was caught because one of the burglary victims had an app that was able to track a stolen electronic device to Black’s residence. Investigators also obtained security camera video showing Black using a stolen debit card at a local convenience store.
Among the items found at Black’s residence were several instruments owned by Century High School that had been reported missing after they were sent to Schmidt Music for repairs.
