Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester-area woman has been charged with filing a false police report about a burglary at her home - not once, but twice.

Charged this week was 29-year-old Allison Winslow of Dover.

She reported the first burglary in November 2016, telling officers items worth hundreds of dollars had been taken from her home. According to the criminal complaint, Winslow said the second break-in occurred Jan. 1st this year, also involving a large number of items. Some were said to be Christmas gifts. She later called to say some of the items had been returned.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office investigator assigned to the case became suspicious after talking to a family member. The complaint says Winslow eventually admitted there were no burglaries.

Records show she repaid insurance claims totaling $6500.
