Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester area’s unemployment rate fell to only 2.6-percent last month.

The latest jobs data from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for Olmsted County fell 2-tenths of a point from August and was 3-tenths of a point below the unemployment rate from September of last year. It was also the lowest the jobless rate has been this year and the lowest reported for Olmsted County since last October, when seasonal factors helped pushed it down to 2.5-percent.

Across the region, every county enjoyed lower unemployment rates last month and six of the counties reported jobless rates below 3-percent. Olmsted County was tied with Mower County for the lowest rate,while Fillmore, Freeborn and Dodge Counties had the highest rates at 3.1-percent.
