Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An operations error led to the distribution of gasoline containing diesel fuel to convenience stores, gas stations in the Rochester area.

Magellan Midstream Partners issued a statement this morning indicating the company has notified the Minnesota Department of Commerce of the problem and is working to with the affected fuel retailers to recover the gasoline containing diesel.

Magellan Midstream says an update will be provided later today with more details about the incident and information for motorists who may have purchased the affected gasoline. A review of articles available on the internet concerning the impact of burning a gasoline/diesel mix suggest a small amount of diesel may not cause significant problems, but larger amounts could cause the engine to shut down and require a cleaning of the fuel system.

Magellan Midstream says the problem at the company’s terminal has been resolved and normal operations have resumed. Additional testing has also been ordered to prevent a future occurrence.
