MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A person with direct knowledge of the hire tells The Associated Press that the Minnesota Vikings have added former Philadelphia offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to their staff.

The person confirmed the agreement to the AP early Sunday on condition of anonymity because the Vikings have not yet announced it.

Shurmur was with the Eagles for the last three years. He interviewed for their head coach vacancy that was filled by Doug Pederson.

Shurmur's specific role with the Vikings under head coach Mike Zimmer has not been finalized. The departure of running backs coach Kirby Wilson for a job with Cleveland created an opening. Zimmer said previously he expected offensive coordinator Norv Turner to return.
