Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The three finalists for Rochester police chief are scheduled to take part in a community forum Wednesday evening at the Mayo Civic Center.

The public is invited to attend the event, set to begin at 7:30 in Suites 102 and 103 on the main level.

The candidates are:

Roy Alston, a lieutenant with the Dallas Police Dept where he is in charge of a Community Engagement Unit.

Capt James Franklin oversees a division of the Metropolitan Transit Police in the Twin Cities.

Mark Elliot is police chief of Prior Lake, a town of 26,000 in the southwest Metro.

Current Chief Roger Peterson plans to retire April 25th. Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede may appoint a successor before then.
