Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  The Minnesota POW/MIA Riders Association will hold a candlelight vigil Friday at Rochester’s Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial.

The event is in honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day, which is observed across the nation on the third Friday of September each year. Many Americans take the time to remember the over 83,000 who were prisoners of war (POW) and those who are missing in action (MIA), as well as their families.

Friday’s event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and it is open to the public.
