RICHFIELD, Minn. (AP) — Police say officers ended a chase of a minivan moments before it crashed into some trees and a house in Richfield, killing the driver.

Authorities say a Richfield officer saw the minivan crash into a stop sign Sunday afternoon and began pursuing it. Police say the chase was terminated because the minivan driver increased his speed, disregarded traffic control devices and was driving erratically.

Moments later, the van hit two trees and a house, throwing the driver from the vehicle and killing him.

Hennepin County sheriff's officials and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted with the investigation.
