(Alexandria, MN) -- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating a plane crash on Lake Winona in Alexandria.

The single-engine Piper crashed into the water around 7:00 PM Friday and the pilot got out and was standing on the roof of the aircraft. Deputies say 18-year-old Maxwell Guderian of Minnetonka was conducting "touch and go's" at the Alexandria Airport and lost power as he was flying. Guderian could not make it back to the airport and made an emergency landing in Lake Winona.

He was not hurt.
