Pet Food Recall Expanded

St. Paul, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is alerting consumers about the expanded recall of certain pet food products produced by J.J. Fuds of Valparaiso, Indiana.

The expanded recall includes all lots and products of J.J. Fuds Chicken Tender Chunks, Beef Tender Chunks and Duckling Tender Chunks Pet Food because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes and/or Salmonella, organisms which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

J.J. Fuds Chicken Tender Chunks, Beef Tender Chunks and Duckling Tender Chunks are frozen raw products and have been distributed regionally, including in Minnesota, through retailers and wholesale distributors. MDA inspectors are visiting these locations to ensure that recalled products have been removed from store shelves.

The company has not received any reports to date of human or animal illnesses associated with the handling or consumption of these specific products.

The recalled products should not be sold or fed to pets. Pet owners who have the affected product at home should return it to the retailer for a refund and proper disposal. Consumers should be very careful in handling the recalled product to prevent the spread of contamination. Use a sealed bag or container when returning to the store for a refund.
