Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Two Olmsted County deputies had to deal with a bizarre incident Tuesday.

They went to an Oronoco Township home around 6 p.m. looking for an 18 year old who was wanted for a probation violation. He tried hiding in the house but was handcuffed and placed inside a squad car.

The deputies went to talk to the teen’s parents and when they returned, they discovered he was hanging from a seatbelt. A spokesman says the teenager was able to get his handcuffed arms in front of him and then wrapped the seatbelt around his neck in an apparent suicide attempt.

He was taken to St. Mary’s where he was checked out and later turned over to the Olmsted County jail staff.

Officers have been called to the teen’s home 39 times since 2010 for various incidents such as disorderly conduct, assaults and domestic issues.
