Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Olmsted County’s population reached a milestone last year, but the rate of growth slowed.

A new report from the U.S. Census estimates the county’s population topped 150,000 for the first time. The unofficial headcount as of July 1st, 2014 was just under 150,300. That about 1,000 above the 2013 population estimate for a growth rate of 7-tenths of a percent. The previous year, Olmsted County added about 2000 residents.

The Census report puts the population for the Rochester Metropolitan Area, which includes portions of several surrounding counties, grew by fewer than 1,000 to just under 212,800 people.
