Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)  Seasonal factors helped the Rochester area enjoy a sizable drop in unemployment in April.

The latest numbers from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development show the unemployment rate for Olmsted County was 3.1-percent. That is down 7-tenths of a point from March and a half-point below the jobless rate from April of last year, when the rate also fell 7-tenths of a point from the previous month.

The Rochester area jobless rate in April was also the lowest in the region, where every county experienced a drop in unemployment from March. Fillmore County continued to have the highest jobless rate in the region at 4.3-percent, but that was down from 5.9-percent in March, which was the biggest decline in the region.
