Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Board held its final scheduled meeting of the year Tuesday and approved its 2016 budget and took care of some other business.

The budget includes a property tax levy that was set at $89.7 million, which is 4.8 percent higher than the 2015 figure. It is also $350,000 lower than the maximum that was set earlier by the board.

Also approved by the board were salary increases for Olmsted County Attorney Mark Ostrem and Sheriff Kevin Torgerson. Both were given a 3 ½ percent boost.  That puts Ostrem’s 2016 salary at $160,250. Torgerson’s 2016 salary will rise to $129,500.

The commissioners also approved a 3 ½ increase in their 2016 salaries, raising the annual salary to $39,800. They will also continue receiving an expense allowance of $400 per month.
