No Change Next Year for Rochester School Attendance Lines

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The school attendance boundaries in the Rochester School District will remain the same for the next school year.

Despite significant overcrowding in four elementary schools in northwest Rochester, the School Board voted last night to go with the status quo in regards to the attendance boundary lines for the 2018-2019 school year.  The board has spent over a month studying and discussing various options for shifting the boundary lines in order to shift students out of the crowded schools and into facilities that are currently operating under capacity, but all of the options faced vocal opposition from families that would be impacted by the moves.

The board directed Superintendent Michael Munoz to continue working on the issue with the goal of bringing forward a comprehensive plan for addressing school capacity problems for the 2019-2020 school year.
