Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Board has approved a tobacco free policy affecting county parks.

Under the policy, tobacco use will be prohibited at Chester Woods beach, Oxbow Park’s Zollman Zoo, and all play areas in county parks.

In addition, tobacco use will be prohibited in Graham Park, except in designated parking areas.

The ban takes effect May 1.

The ban is based on Olmsted County's Tobacco Free Workplace Ordinance. It prohibits tobacco use in public places when children younger than 18 are present.
