Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Some significant changes are being added to Rochester’s public bus schedule, beginning Tuesday.

Rochester Public Transit will launch a new route (3D) to accommodate its newest Park and Ride site at RCTC.

The new route offers a 10 minute direct route between the RCTC site and downtown/St. Marys Hospital. The 3D route will offer peak service during the morning and afternoon rush hours, with trips every 20 minutes. RPT says the new RCTC site offers nearly 750 spaces, which adds 50% additional capacity to the current system. Commuters currently using any of the city’s other five lots are encouraged to consider using the new site.

Meanwhile, the 3N route has been expanded to offer five evening trips, an increase of three from the earlier schedule. This will support Park & Ride commuters who work later in the evening. It will also make the RCTC route more viable for students with evening classes.

(Reminder - RCTC students can ride free by showing their student ID cards).

The 3N route has also expanded its service area to Marion Road and Park Lane. This is in response to demand for evening service in the southeast part of the city, and made more viable by the five additional trips now being offered.
