One of the great things about living in southeast Minnesota is the quality of life we enjoy here, right? But how do Rochester's crime stats rank compared to other close cities and towns?

Sure, Rochester is safe. We know that, and the fact that we've been consistently ranked as one of the Best Places To Live seconds that point. But thanks to the gang over at ADT Home Security, there's a new, interactive map that will rank not only Rochester but every other nearby city and town by their crime statistics.

Entering in my zip code (give it up for the Northwesters-- 55901!), the map tells us that things are actually pretty good. We're ranked 'slightly below average' in five out of ten crime categories, including larceny, personal crime, property crime, rape and overall crime.

Even better, the 55901 Northwest Rochester zip code is also ranked 'well below average' in categories like assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, and robbery.

The only area we're above the national average? Yeah, that'd be... murder.

Yikes! That's not good-- but there, unfortunately, have been five murders so far in 2018-- which puts us on pace for the Med City's deadliest year ever. I'm guessing that explains our above-average ranking in that category.

Overall, though, the 55901 Northwest Rochester zip code's total crime rate is .38 less than the national average. Which is still pretty good.

You can check YOUR neighborhood on ADT's interactive crime stats heat map HERE.
