The cold weather practically shut down the entire state of Minnesota, with temperatures reaching 30 below zero and wind chills hitting 60 below. That didn't stop on the greatest and oldest high school hockey rivalries from taking place.

Warroad and Roseau, two hockey powerhouses in northern Minnesota, have met 174 times dating back to 1945. When these two teams meet up, each town stops and takes in what is a sure-fire bet to be a great hockey game.

Roseau has had the best of Warroad through the years, leading the series 102-67, but that doesn't stop either of the squads from caring anymore or any less about it.

It means so much that even when City Halls, bus routes, and businesses are shutting down, these two squads still play. Tuesday, January 29th had a low of 33 below zero, but Warroad and Roseau still played a hockey game. Now, don't try to tell me this isn't the State of Hockey.

The worst part for these two squads wasn't playing the game while there was a polar vortex outside, it was the squads tied 2-2, just the fifth time it has happened in the rivalry.
