ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Supreme Court Justice Wilhelmina Wright is in line to become a federal judge.

Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken said Friday they will recommend that Wright be named a federal judge. President Barack Obama will decide whether to forward her name to the U.S. Senate for confirmation.

Wright has been on Minnesota's highest court since Gov. Mark Dayton appointed her in 2012. Before that she was on the state Court of Appeals and a federal prosecutor for a time.

Dayton says he supports her recommendation to the federal court.

Her departure would give him two vacancies to fill on the seven-member Supreme Court because Justice Alan Page is nearing mandatory retirement this summer.
