Jacobson Township, MN (KROC AM News) - A northern Minnesota man was killed after being hit by a car while he and another driver were looking at the damage of their own car Sunday night in Aitkin County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the man was a passenger in a Chevy Cruze that struck an animal while traveling east on Highway 200 just west of the Jacobson Township, which is about 20 miles south of Grand Rapids, around 7:45 p.m. Reports indicate that the animal struck was a bear.

The passenger and driver were checking the damage on their disabled vehicle when a Chrysler 200 also traveling east on Highway 200 struck and killed the passenger who was a 61-year-old man from Floodwood, Minnesota. The driver of the Chrysler 200, 55-year-old Jane Sautbine of Cloquet, Minnesota and the driver of the Chevy Cruze, 64-year-old Thomas Andor of Hibbing, Minnesota were not injured.

The identity of the victim as not been released.
