Minnesota Man Sentenced For Possessing Machine Guns and Pipebombs
Minneapolis MN (KROC AM News) - A central Minnesota man has been sentenced to prison for possessing a large number of weapons, including machine guns and pipe bombs.
Sentenced Friday to three years in federal prison was 46-year-old Chad Lee Monson of Willmar. He was arrested earlier this year after police searches of his home and a building in Willmar turned up a large cache of weapons.
According to US Attorney Erica H. MacDonald, Monson pleaded guilty to illegally possessing machine guns, pipe bombs, and silencers.
The search of his home in January turned up illegal narcotic drugs, sixteen firearms, and a large quantity of ammunition. Officers executed two additional search warrants at a commercial utility building near his home in February and found ten machine guns, two of them with obliterated serial numbers, three pipe bombs, and three unregistered silencers.
