MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the death of his 4-month-old daughter.

The girl was discovered Saturday night inside the upper level of a duplex in eastern Minneapolis. Minneapolis police said she had suffered assault wounds and was pronounced dead at Hennepin County Medical Center. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

The Star Tribune reports that the girl's father was arrested and remained jailed Sunday. Police said there are no other suspects and that the father was alone with the child at the time.

A neighbor says that the father was "out of it" earlier Saturday. Brittney Thomson said he was wandering aimlessly while letting out his dogs.

Thomson says police coaxed the man outside of the house after the child was removed.
