Official Bio:

I am a lifelong Rochester resident. A 1981 graduate of Lourdes High School, and a 1985 graduate of St. John’s University. I have raised two adult children here in Rochester. I operated a number of small business for many years, with a total of over 300 employees. I have been a commercial real estate broker for the last 15 years. These experiences allowed me to work with all economic levels and many different ethnicities. I have learned the skills of negotiation, overcoming objectives, and consensus building. I also learned to be of service to others, including a 10-year stint on the Rochester Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors.

I was also the “Sports Expert” on KROC-AM radio for 11 years. I am a small of Rochester’s past, and hope to play a small part in it’s future.

Your key platforms

I believe the Mayor’s office is about serving the residents of Rochester. This is a non-partisan election, and that’s a good thing - I do not approach this with rigid ideological positions. I am not a politician, and I won’t become one. I would look at all issues with an open mind and a willingness to listen.

I also believe that the Mayor needs to look out for the interests of all residents, especially with the DMC. This massive project, which we are fortunate to be a part of, will impact all of us for many years. We need to be mindful of the impact of construction, congestion, and development on the businesses, employees, and visitors here in Rochester. I will be very concerned about limiting disruption and reducing any negative outcomes as we move forward.

I believe in thrift, and think local Government can operate efficiently and effectively. I will look out for waste in spending, while also reminding all of us in public service that we work for the residents - not the other way around!

Why should Rochester vote for you as our mayor?

You should vote for me for Mayor if you want an advocate looking out for the interests of all residents and you want someone who truly will serve the people.

What do you envision for the future of Rochester?

The future of Rochester is very bright - if you could pick any industry for economic growth in the next 25 years it would be healthcare, and if you could pick any leader in that field it would be Mayo. The investment coming into our town is tremendous, both the infrastructure added and the people coming to work here. There will be challenges, but we are in an enviable position for a great future.

What are your connections to The Mayo Clinic? How do you plan to work with The Mayo Clinic?

I have no connection to Mayo Clinic, except as a patient. I would look to support Mayo initiatives, but I would also look to make sure no citizens suffer economic harm due to an overambitious project.

What are your connections to the DMC? How do you plan to work with the DMC?

I have no connection to the DMC, except as a citizen that looks forward to our future. I am very interested in moving the DMC plan forward, again looking out for the impacted businesses and people.

How would you address the concerns of citizens about the loss of some of the city's older and potentially historic buildings to new development?

We have indeed lost many historic buildings in Rochester, and we have just a few left. There is a distinction between ‘historic’ and ‘old’. I worked for years renovating old buildings, and its a very expensive process. There is also a fine line between allowing for development and preventing a property owner from improving a property. I would also take into account the increase in real estate taxes that will be paid after redevelopment.

Favorite Rochester Moment?

My favorite Rochester moment was when my parents adopted me at 6 months old and I moved here!

What’s one thing you want the Rochester community to know about you?

If given the chance, I’ll be a non-political Mayor and watch out for your interests!
