Rochester,MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede is assembling a list of people he would like to serve a new task force.

During his regular monthly appearance on the Rochester Today show with Andy Brownell on KROC-AM, Brede indicated he plans to present the proposed membership list to the City Council in a few weeks. The Mayor says he would serve as the chair of the group, which would be given the task of recommending future uses for the historic Chateau Theater in downtown Rochester.

The City Council recently agreed to purchase the Chateau for $6 million, with the Mayo Clinic providing $500,000, in a transaction that is expected to close this fall. The city’s funding for the purchase will come from the new Destination Medical Center and count toward the city’s DMC contribution.

Brede says he is looking at a 12 member task force with representation from the DMC Economic Development Agency, the Mayo Clinic, City Council, the Rochester Downtown Alliance, the Chamber of Commerce and the general public, along with groups involved in historic preservation and the arts.
