Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Rochester police say a man armed with a baseball bat came to the rescue of a neighbor who was being confronted by a would-be robber.  

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at a small apartment building in the 3400 block of 22nd Ave NW, near the north Bakers Square store.  

Police say  a 20-year-old woman and 19-year-old man had returned home when a masked man armed with a gun walked up and demanded money.The man knocked the male victim’s cellphone to the ground and it broke.

The victim then tackled the would-be thief and the two began wrestling. That’s when the neighbor with the bat showed up and the man fled on foot.  

The victims were not able to give a good description of the man.
