Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the death of a man found on a rural southeast Rochester Road early Tuesday as "suspicious," but the evidence points to it being the county’s first homicide of the year.

At an afternoon news conference today, Sheriff Kevin Torgerson disclosed the victim appears to have been an adult Somali male in his 20s and had multiple gunshot wounds. The Sheriff says investigators have tentatively identified the man, but are waiting for confirmation from the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office before releasing his name. It is anticipated that information, and information on the preliminary autopsy results will be available tomorrow morning.

The Sheriff says no suspects have been taken into custody and once the victim's name is made public he is hoping the community will come forward with information about the person's activities and associations. He says investigators will be particularly interested in learning about his whereabouts and actions in the hours leading up to the discovery of his body in the middle of 45th Street Southeast near Gamehaven Park.
