BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (AP) — The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 57-year-old man after a Brooklyn Center police officer used a Taser on him.

According to the Brooklyn Center Police Department, officers responded at about 9 p.m. Jan. 16 after multiple calls about a group fighting in a parking lot, possibly with weapons.

Police say officers saw several people in front of a business including 57-year-old Sinthanouxay Khottavongsa, who they say was "holding a crowbar in a threatening manner."

Police say he refused to drop it and an officer used a Taser on him, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head.

He died of a blunt force head injury two days later. A Hennepin County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman couldn't comment, citing an active investigation.
