BCA: Man Fatally Shot by Officer in Stillwater Confrontation
STILLWATER (AP)-- Authorities say a man was fatally shot by an officer
during a confrontation with police in Stillwater.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office says officers from Stillwater, Bayport, and Oak Park Heights responded to a call about 1 a.m. Wednesday involving a suicidal man armed with a knife.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says three officers discharged their stun guns, but they were ineffective. Another officer, five-year Stillwater police veteran Hunter Julien, fired his gun.
The man, identified as 22-year-old Keaton James Larson of Stillwater, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Authorities say Larson died of a single gunshot wound. The BCA recovered a large kitchen knife and a razor blade at the scene. The agency is reviewing body camera and dashcam video.
The officers are on standard administrative leave.
