Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - Bail was set at $1 million on Monday when 23-year-old Kyle Allers was formally arraigned on a second-degree murder charge in Winona County Court.

The Lewiston man is accused of killing 24-year-old Tasha Hanson sometime last week. The Lewiston woman’s body was found early Saturday in a wooded area east of Lewiston after authorities were contacted by a family member of Allers, who told investigators the young man had indicated he killed Hanson and provided information that assisted in locating her body.

Winona County officials have not said when or where she was killed, but disclosed an autopsy determined her death was caused by strangulation and blunt force head injuries.

The victim and Allers had two young children, who have been placed in the care of a family member.
